This month’s pick for Employee Spotlight is Scott Liptak. Scott is a Senior Vice President in our Construction and Surety Division at The Fedeli Group. Scott’s creative approach to problem solving and technical surety skills are just a few of the characteristics that make him a great leader. Keep reading to learn more about Scott’s story and how he became involved in the Construction and Surety industry.
1. How did you get your start in the industry?
Coming out of college with Finance, Accounting and English background, I interviewed for positions within multiple industries. I was drawn to the surety industry because of its broad view towards business and the career flexibility that it provides – in surety we look at EVERY aspect of a business to determine long term viability. I find the industry to be incredibly interesting.
2. How long have you been at TFG?
My affiliation with TFG dates back to 12/31/12, when we sold a partial interest in our agency to TFG.
3. What is the best part of your job?
I love finding creative solutions to challenges. I also love it when the lines between work and play is blurred, and customers / business associates become true friends.
4. What are 3 words you would use to describe TFG?
Relationship, Relationship, Relationship. Everything about my experience at TFG (and life in general) revolves around the word, Relationship. Relationships with clients, co-workers, surety carriers, cpa’s, bankers, lawyers, etc… all of these relationships are critical to sustained success.
5. What individual has been an inspiration to you and why?
This question is easy…my mom. My mom did not have an easy life, with significant health and financial challenges during most of her adult life. Despite these challenges, my mom always cared more about others than herself, and she maintained an incredibly positive attitude throughout it all. She did not care how wealthy or successful someone was…but she truly built relationships with anyone and everyone that she met, because she truly cared about them as an individual. People were simply drawn to her. I miss her every day.
Thank you for sharing your story with us, Scott! We are incredibly lucky to have someone like you on our team.
